The Folly of Search Engine Rank Reports Part 3

Your Web Pro LLC — 2018-07-25 08:00:00

Search engine ranks can almost become an obsession to website owners – and for good cause. Being found on the major search engines is vital to your business. Knowing how those ranks work and what you can do about them will ease the stress.

In this four-part series we are going to look at those rank reports, how search ranks really work, and what you can do about it. Stay tuned as we dive into this confusing topic. This week is the fourth and final installment where we will cover what you can do about it.

What You Can Do

So the big question comes: What can you, the humble website owner, do about this? Let’s break that down into three simple steps:

Educate Yourself

Start by educating yourself on how this process works. You don’t have to become an expert in search ranks but knowing how it works and what is possible can help you ward off those gimmicks that will eat up your time and money with no results. Educate yourself and save your frustration.

Get Good Data

Seek out good data and update it a few times a year. Your website developer should be able to help you get good data about your website. Once you have data you can make more educated choices. It is wise to revisit the data a few times a year. Monthly or quarterly can be a good schedule depending on how aggressively you are marketing.

Work With Experts

Work with a trusted expert that will tell you the truth whether they make the sale or not. A sale is never more important than integrity so seek out those people that really have your best interest at heart. I would be remiss to not encourage your call to my office. We seek the best options for all of our customers, but if you have another trusted advisor please call on them. At the end of the day you should seek advice from someone you like, know, and trust. If the advice you are getting just does not make sense, call me for a second opinion.

I hope this has been a helpful series for you. Sometimes these articles spark more questions than answers. If you have any questions about search engine ranks, or anything else related to online marketing give me a shout. I am always happy to help in any way that I can.
